Hello, my name is Kwadwo Asare. I have been working for EMC since December of last year, summer of 2015 brought an opportunity to expand my efforts. Prior to the summer, I was restricted by my school schedule, now that I am free I have been able to experience various things. The past week opened by eyes to the battle to save lives. I had the privilege to learn from individuals that have been in the movement for years:The bikers for life. Working by their side, I learned a lot; I was assigned to sidewalk counsel at a Planned Parenthood at bleecker street in Manhattan, there I learned that we are at war.
The church came to support us with their prayers, as we have out pamphlets and talked to women entering the building, a priest and a few members supported us with their prayers. I heard the pro life movement is a spiritual battle, it wasn't until last week that i realize it. We went through the our routine, women quickly walked by, some paid us no mind and ignored us; it seemed trying to save the unborn is a taboo. The real battle began when Planned Parenthood sent volunteering in pink to counter our efforts, they divided themselves to cover our numbers.
Majority of the women at walked by would go inside the clinic, with every woman I managed to spark a conversation, a volunteer would quickly sprint to direct the client toward the clinic. I realize this was a battleground, I prayed and felt empowered. We gave out a total of 40 pamphlets within a 3 hour period, we managed to divert 5 women from entering the clinic.
We had support from the priest and my new friends. The movement to save the unborn is growing and support from all over the globe is lending a hand, my new friends are aiding us in the fight.
